Chinese Couples to Wed En Masse in Crete

chinese_weddingsEvery year, many couples from China choose Greece, and especially the island of Crete to get married. This year, in late April, 128 people from China will attend a group wedding in Chania, Crete and then will depart forĀ Agios Nikolaos (Saint Nicholas), in the northern part of the island, for their honeymoons.
The group wedding will be organized by the municipalities of Lasithi and Agios Nikolaos and Shanghai’sĀ municipalĀ wedding-planning service. The first couple are expected to arrive in Crete on April 27. The couples will be accompanied by journalists and their journey filmed in order to be presented at theĀ Shanghai Tourism Festival in September.
After the ceremony, newlyweds and their guests will visit Agios Nikolaos to sample local products and traditional Cretan dance and music, before a guided tour of Agios Nikolaos and the fortress of Spinalonga.
