Greek state prosecutor Calliope Dagiada has ordered a tax audit and an investigation of PASOK’s finances to ascertain whether embezzlement has been committed.
According to Greek news, the investigation will focus on the political party’s finances during the period of 2007-2010. The prosecutor had originally asked for professional accountants to present her with their findings, but only received reports with incomplete data.
On April 6, Dagiada ordered Athens magistrates to conduct inquiries, including re-examination of the accountants’ findings.
In the meantime, a new complaint was submitted to the Public Prosecutors of the Financial Crime Unit. This complaint will be incorporated in the existing file, with the first witnesses to be called for investigation in due course.
