Letter Bomb Sent to Greek Police Station

policeGreek police have said a package containing an improvised explosive device was sent to the police station in Itea, central Greece, without any warning. Bomb-disposal units were despatched to the area to identify the parcel.
Itea police officers have been prosecuted for the death of the Albanian convict, Ilia Kareli, who, before his murder in Nigrita prison, was abused in Malandrino prison and by Itea police.
Kareli was found dead inside his cell in Malandrino prison on Thursday March 27. He was beaten to death by prison guards seeking to avenge Kareli stabbing their colleague, Giorgos Tsironis, to death after the inmate was denied permission to travel to Italy to visit his dying mother.
Four of the prison guards charged with the murder of the Albanian inmate have been released on bail. They are banned from leaving the country and are obliged to report to their nearest police station monthly. Six prison guards are in pre-trial custody and six have been released under conditions.
