Renovation of Panathinaikos' Stadium

leoforosYannis Alafouzos, the president of the Greek football team, Panathinaikos announced the renovation plans of the team’s stadium that include change of canopies, construction of suites and increase of the stadium’s capacity.
The reconstruction works will begin in December, 2014 and it is estimated that they will be completed within 3 to 4 months. The team will be competing in the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) for a period of 2 months. The administration of the club also announced that there will be a 10% increase in season tickets for current holders and 30% for the rest of Panathinaikos fans.
Panathinaikos president stated that the club’s financial situation is difficult. He considers that the increase in ticket prices is reasonable as the new stadium will also host European games. He also reported that the number of season tickets available will amount to 10,000 and that the administration believes that they will soon run out as Panathinaikos is Greece’s best football team.
The stadium is located on Alexandras Avenue, central Athens. It is considered one of the most historic stadiums in Greece, as it was used by the Greek national football team as home ground for many years and also by other big teams such as AEK and Olympiacos.
