Greek Parliament Lifts Immunity of Four More Golden Dawn MPs

parliamentThe Greek Parliament voted Wednesday to lift the parliamentary immunity of four more Golden Dawn MPs, on the grounds of participating and leading a criminal organization. According to Greek news, 213 MPs supported the motion, while 16 opposed it and eight abstained.
The four Golden Dawn MPs whose immunity was lifted are Antonios Gregos, Polyvios Zisimopoulos, Artemis Mattheopoulos and Konstantinos Barbarousis.
Antonis Gregos claimed that his name was not recorded anywhere in the file and that he was being prosecuted for his beliefs.
In the meantime, Polyvios Zisimopoulos said: “My name was not mentioned anywhere. I am clearly being prosecuted because of my political beliefs. I have never been involved in any illegal activities. I am being called a criminal arbitrarily.”
Artemis Mattheopoulos said that the whole procedure was “unnecessary and funny,” noting the political nature of the prosecution. “I plead innocent. If you considered breaking the Samaras-Venizelos junta a crime then I plead guilty.”
“I don’t care what you vote about my immunity, my conscience is clear,” said Konstantinos Barbarousis.
