Christodoulos Xeros' DNA Found on Itea Police Station Parcel-Bomb

Xeros-DNA-FoundA day following the proclamation sent by the Greek terrorist organization “Conspiracy of Cells of Fire” claiming responsibility for the parcel bomb which was sent to the Itea Police Station in central Greece on April 29, Greek police authorities announced on Saturday noon that DNA of convicted escapee Christodoulos Xeros was also found on the parcel.
As announced by the police authorities, the residue of the powerful explosive device which was sent via post last week to the police station, contained genetic material from the imprisoned November 17 member, who failed to check in after being granted a furlough last January and has gone missing since then. The investigators matched the DNA to a sample taken from the car, which Xeros used in January to travel to Thessaloniki.
On Friday, after having received the proclamation by the guerilla group, police sources indicated that an assumed cooperation between the two parties couldn’t be ruled out and that Xeros would likely take up the part of organizing more similar attacks together with the Cells of Fire.
According to the organization’s proclamation, the parcel-bomb addressed at the Itea Police Station was an “answer” to the murder of the Albanian inmate Ilia Kareli, who last month was beaten to death by prison guards at Malandrino prison. The terrorist organization also threatened that they will proceed with new attacks.
“We will soon return,” said the proclamation.
