Greece May Be Set for Hottest Summer in 10 Years

Greek Hottest SummerMeteorologists predict Greece will experience one of its hottest summers of the past decade, with possibly record-breaking temperatures expected to exceed 2007 highs.
Forecasting models suggest El Nino will affect weather patterns this year. In the past, El Nino caused severe summer heatwaves in Greece, and is expected to do the same this year as well.
May temperatures are set to be quite high all over Greece, with heatwaves predicted from June to August. Strong winds, especially at sea, will blow in from the south and leaving the countryside susceptible to fire, although thunderstorms in May, June and August will mitigate that risk for a while.
Of course, these forecasts can only be approximate, given anything is possible where nature is concerned. This long-term forecast derives from observations made during winter and spring across the Northern Hemisphere.
