Greek Benefits Card Set for Online Renewal to Cut Queues

rsz_1oaedGreece’s Minister of Labour, Giannis Vroutsis, is to present a amendment to parliament Tuesday in a bid to end the long queues outside the state labour offices to ease the plight of 1m unemployed on benefits.
The revision will digitalise not only the online renewal of the employment card, but also all other Greek Manpower Employment Organization (OAED) benefits as of this coming June.
Mr. Vroutsis said the changes will achieve a more personalised approach of every unemployed’s case. The 800 job advisors and 1200 administrators that will have access to this new so called ‘Erganis’ software will be able to organise face-to-face interviews and execute a far more customised action plan for registered individual jobseekers.
Egranis will also be connected to the information systems of certain social organisations, such as IKA (Social Insurance Institute), in a bid to prevent benefit fraud. The ministry seems to believe that these new online services will decrease visits to the local OAED branches by 4,250,000 per year.
