The day has come! Millions of Greeks all around the globe are waiting for this moment. Greece’s opening World Cup Game against Colombia.
Just a few hours before Greece’s match against Colombia, the Greek World Cup team is in a great mood and Greece’s manager, Fernando Santos, seems to have decided which players to put in the starting line-up.
The clash of two different styles in the Greece vs Colombia World Cup game promises a great spectacle for soccer fans. Generally, Greece is known for its defensive tact while the Colombians, who scored 27 goals in qualifying, prefer to attack.
Greece completed all its training sessions with success and all players seem ready to give Greece its first victory in the 2014 World Cup.
According to sources from the Greek camp in Brazil the golden team that will face Colombia will consist of the following players: Karnezis (goalkeeper), Torosidis (right back), Holevas ( left back), Papastathopoulos and Manolas (center backs), Karagounis, Katsouranis and Maniatis in the midfield and Samaras, Salpigidis and Mitroglou upfront.
Colombia will play without Radamel Falcao who is injured, with this possible lineup: David Ospina; Pablo Armero, Cristián Zapata, Mario Yepes, Juan Zúñiga; James Rodríguez, Abel Aguilar, Carlos Sánchez, Juan Cuadrado; Teófilo Gutiérrez, Carlos Bacca.
The 20th FIFA World Cup began on June 12 and ends on July 13. Participating in the tournament are teams of 31 nations along with Brazil. A total of 64 matches will take place in 12 cities of Brazil.
