Civil Aviation's 48-Hour Strike Suspended

civil aviation The Greek Civil Aviation Authority suspended its already announced 48-hour strike, for Monday and Tuesday, June 30 and July 1. Their representatives stated  that “Our goal is not to create problems in the local society.” According to the Federation of Hellenic Civil Aviation Employees’ Unions (OSYPA), the decision to suspend the strike was made after complaints of professional tourist agents, such as SETE and the Association of Representatives of Airport Companies were made to the Prime Minister and the Greek Minister of Transport, who thought the strike aimed “to create problems to passengers, the country’s image, the economy and to local communities who make their living out of tourism revenues.”
OSYPA accused Greek authorities for indifference, since they haven’t been engaged in any direct and fruitful dialogue on the matter and have not undertaken any actions to solve the chronic problems of Greek airports, including maintenance projects, staff hiring, and plans to ensure growth and modernization of airport systems and infrastructure.” OSYPA has warned that “a lawsuit will be filed in the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos) against the Minister of Transport and all authorities responsible for the matter, the ongoing discredit of the Civil Aviation and its results on flight safety.”
