The Federation of Private Employees (OIYE) has called for a nationwide strike in the retail sector on Sunday, July 20, in protest against the opening of stores on Sundays. The Federation called on associations, labor unions and sector employees to participate in the strike.
Shops throughout Greece will be allowed to open this Sunday, which falls in the first week of the summer sales that started on July 14. Shops will also be open in selected tourist destinations and the city centres of Athens and Thessaloniki, where Sunday opening for all shops is being implemented on a pilot basis.
