International Award for Athens Airport

Athens International AirportWith constant changes and flexible to prevailing circumstances, the Athens International Airport (AIA) “Eleftherios Venizelos” wins one award after another.
According to the Global Annual Benchmarking Report, an annual survey counting the efficiency of nearly 200 commercial airports in the world, Air Transport Research Society awarded AIA the European Airport Efficiency Excellence Award in the small/medium airport category.
Yiannis Paraschis, head of AIA, noted that the award came in a period marked by significant challenges such as the slowing of economic growth across the world and a particularly difficult financial situation in Greece. AIA managed, despite adversities, to meet the challenges of the aviation market and to protect its successful business model.
He also stated that the Greek airport kept its prices low but also retained its high-quality services. Paraschis pointed out tha what allows an organization to overcome the difficulties is mainly its ability to constantly change and adapt to the prevailing circumstances in order to become even more efficient and productive.
The winners of 2014 efficiency awards were the Copenhagen International Airport in the category of over 20 million passengers, for North America the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, for Asia the Busan Gimhae International Airport in Korea and for Oceania the Sydney Airport.
