AbatzidisA few days after the arrest of a teacher in Serres, northern Greece, for child sexual abuse, Greek authorities arrested another teacher in the area on the same charges.
On Friday, Greek police arrested a 49-year-old teacher who is accused of sexual abuse of a teenager under 15 from the summer of 2011 until last May. Within the next days, the defendant will submit his defence to the investigating authorities of Serres. His name is Konstantinos Abatzidis, son of Stylianos and Magdalini, born in Kozani in 1965.
Only days ago, on Tuesday, July 15, another teacher in a Serres school was arrested for the same offense. A 47-year-old teacher, Panagiotis Koulaxidis, son of Christos and Marika, born in BrettenGermany, was arrested for sexual abuse of minors.
Seven students in a Serres school, ages 8 to 12, were the victims of the 47-year-old while he was Assistant Director of the school from 2012 until last April. The case that shocked Serres society was revealed last November, when the mother of a student found in a social network website the profile of her son and noticed that the 47-year-old teacher was pressuring him to meet him.
The investigation conducted by local authorities revealed that the teacher had sexually abused at least seven children in and out of school. The offender, who is married with no children, denied all accusations.
