4.2 Million in Medical Supplies Donated to Greek Hospitals

apostoliA donation of medical supplies through the program “Give for Greece” has benefited many Greek hospitals.  The “Give for Greece” program is funded by the Jaharis Foundation in collaboration with the charity organization “Apostoli” of the Archdiocese of Athens and the International Orthodox Christians Charities organization (IOCC).
Through the program, five containers of medical supplies worth 4.2 million euros including disposable medical equipment, syringes, gloves, gauze, bandages and hundreds of other items were distributed. Recipients were more than 50 hospitals and medical centers in Athens, western Greece, the Peloponnese, the Ionian Islands, as well as in the western, central, eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and in hospitals in Piraeus and the Aegean Islands.
The medical supplies will help Greek hospitals that were facing major shortages, especially in disposable medical items.
The fifth and last container was delivered Thursday to Laiko General Hospital in Athens. Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece expressed his gratitude for the help of the Greek diaspora to Greece and for their cooperation with “Apostoli“.
He also referred to the initiatives of Archbishop Demetrios of America and the support by Michael Jaharis and the IOCC organization saying that they prove their love for Greece with actions.”Thousands of patients and children have been helped by the support that Michael Jaharis has offered,” said the Archbishop.
