Rise in Domestic and Foreign Air Arrivals

athens international airportAccording to data released by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, international air arrivals to Greek airports during the first eight months of 2014 have increased 15% over the equivalent period in 2013. The total number of air arrivals in 2014 reached 12.14 million, with particular surges in the number of tourists from Britain, France and the United States.
Compared to August 2013, Greek airports received 14.4% more foreign passengers in the same month in 2014, with the number amounting to approximately 3 million.
Meanwhile, a 17.7% spike was also reported in domestic arrivals this year. While the total number of domestic arrivals reached 3.96 million passengers this year, in August alone there were 716,000 arrivals – a 25.2% annual rise.
According to statistical data, a significant increase was also reported in Greece’s tourism revenue for the first seven months of 2014 – total profits of 6.68 billion euros, a 13.8% increase over the same period last year.
