Greek Alternate Health Minister Leonidas Grigorakos said on Saturday that Greece is prepared forĀ theĀ Ebola virus.
“We are ready. We are taking precautionary measures. We have set a special room at “Amalia Fleming” hospital in Athens with two beds. What interests us is not to have any incident. Let’s hope not to have such an incident but in any case we will be ready” he said.
He refused to answer which hospital in Thessaloniki is getting prepared for the same role and reassured that there is a special area in Thessaloniki airport to put an Ebola virus case in quarantine.
Ebola will eventually reach Greece, stated the President of the Greek Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO), Tzeni Kremastinou. “The import of the virus is almost inevitable, not only in Greece, but in European countries in general. What we must do is to be prepared in order to avoid its spreading.”
Concern has been raised after one confirmed case of Ebola virus in Spain, more than 150 persons had to be checked for precautionary reasons.
