Greek hotel bookings for 2015 have dropped due to the uncertainty over political developments, said President of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis.
According to Andreadis, foreign tour agencies are expressing concern to Greek hoteliers over deposits they have already paid, as they fear that if there is a political change, the banking system may also change.
Andreadis said that there may be a reversal after the record of tourist arrivals Greece saw in 2014 and the high numbers of 2013. SETE has called an emergency board meeting on Tuesday, in which heads of the Greek tourism sector associations will discuss the industry’s response and actions in case of political developments.
Also, Greek conference tourism officials said that there have been several isolated cancellations and postponement of conferences and other events scheduled for 2015.
