Greek Students Create Awareness Film On Gambling

gambling-greek-studentsAfter the financial crisis hit Greece, many people turned to gambling in an attempt to make “easy money.”
Easy money through gambling is considered one of the greatest illusions, promoted by “merchants of hope” which can only lead to loss and destruction.
A group of students from the Economic University of Athens, some of whom come from the Greek island Crete, made a short film in order to raise awareness about the issue of gambling. Greek actor Thanassis Efthimiadis agreed to work on the project voluntarily to help the students highlight the significance of this social problem and point out some of its consequences.
The group of students who were involved with the project included Giorgos Veneris, Anastasios Georgakopoulos, Eleftherios Kalogridis, Marios Konsolakis and Iokasti Koutsafti.
“Our short film intends to point out the escape consequences of gambling addiction. That way we hope to intervene and perhaps change this behavior of economically weak groups aged between 16 and 24 years old,” said Giorgos Veneris.
