Sergio Markarian: "No Offer from the Greeks yet"

Uruguayan football coach Sergio Markarian claimed that no one has officially offered him the Greek National Team’s head-coach position yet but that he would gladly discuss the idea of succeeding Claudio Ranieri if an offer was raised.
Sergio Markarian is one of the most prominent coaches the Greek Superleague has come across, leading Panathinaikos to the quarterfinals of the 2001-02 Champions League and then in the same round of the Europa League the next year. Both seasons he lost the championship to Olympiakos in two of the most controversial games in the history of Greek sports. However his legacy has remained strong due to his European runs.
Giorgos Karagounis who serves as the Greek national team’s technical director was under his commands during the Uruguayan’s spell in Greece and have remained in touch since then.
The 70-year-old coach who decided to drop his position as a general manager at a fuel distribution company in the 70’s to get involved in football, stated that so far no one has contacted him yet to offer him the job as Greece’s head coach, but if they do, he’ll gladly sit and down and discuss future plans.
Sergio Markarian’s latest success was leading the Peruvian national team to the semi-finals of the 2011 Copa America, eventually losing 2-0 to champions Uruguay but managing to beat Venezuela 4-1 in the match for third place.
