Greece, 6 Bankruptcies in Less Than 200 Years

greeceGreece has been the center of attention for over two weeks, after the January 25 elections. Foreign media, news agencies, government officials and investors are watching the new Greek government closely, criticizing its every move.
Furthermore, people around the world are waiting to see how Greeceā€™s negotiations with international creditors are going to play out, notes Business insider, in an article entitled: ā€œGreece has spent 90 of the past 192 years in financial crisis.ā€
However, this is not the first time that Greece has shown worrying signs of financial problems. According to a Bank of America Merrill Lynch diagram that was published in Business Insider, Greece has faced at least six bankruptcies over the last two centuries.
Specifically, according BofA, in the last 192 years since the country was first declared free from the Ottoman Empire, Greeks have faced at least 90 years of bankruptcy or debt restructuring processes.
However, Chile and Brazil are first on the list, followed by Turkey and Mexico.
