Greek University Unveils Solar Electric Vehicle Charging Station

power-stationThe University of Piraeus presented Greece’s first solar electric vehicle charging station. A new era is dawning for Greece in the fields of energy and transportation after the inauguration of the first autonomous solar power charging station in the country.
The facility was built by the Laboratory of Renewable Energy and Environmental Protection from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Piraeus and was inaugurated by Professor Apostolos Alexopoulos.
Alexopoulos, representing the Minister for Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy, Panagiotis Lafazanis, spoke during a conference on the use of electric cars in Greece. He referred to the challenges that this new generation of vehicles faces in a country like Greece, where renewable energy sources are abundant.
Alexopoulos also pointed out that the field of Renewable Energy, such as electric cars, is one of the emerging development areas, which is both friendly toward the environment and can also create thousands of jobs.
