Euro Qualifiers: Kostas Mitroglou and Jose Holebas Get Replaced

Apostolos Giannou of Panionios FC and Loukas Vyntra of Levante FC will be replacing Kostas Mitroglou and Jose Holebas due to the latter’s injuries for the upcoming game against Hungary for the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
The young striker is summoned on the men’s team for the first time in his career. So far this season, he’s put in 28 appearances and 9 goals leading Panionios’ efforts to stay out of the danger zone. Giannou grew up in Melbourne and has represented the under-17 Australian national team 8 times. He will most likely start up front in place of Mitroglou’s absence.

Vyntra is the second player called up by coach Sergio Markarian to replace a choice from the initial 23-man squad. Holebas picked up an injury in his last AC Roma encounter and as a result the veteran right back will be taking up his spot. The controversial defender who is occasionally scrutinized for his lack of consistency will be appearing for the 51st time if he gets any playing time.

The game against Hungary is scheduled for Sunday, March 27, at 9.45pm Athens time.
