Greek PM Tsipras Irking German Allies

TsiprasGreek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ German allies are getting exasperated with the Greek government after his visit to Berlin, which led to much skepticism about his willingness to do anything in order to put an end to the country’s economic stalemate, reported Bloomberg.
A German official who spoke with the international news agency, requesting to remain anonymous, stated: “While the atmosphere was good in talks between Tsipras and Chancellor Angela Merkel this week, an improvement in tone may not help resolve a standoff over the reforms required to unlock aid.”
Furthermore, Bloomberg noted that the German social democrats were not convinced that Alexis Tsipras can put an end to the financial crisis. “What’s coming out of Greece is moving completely in the wrong direction. The situation is really worrying — we’re stunned watching the developments,” said Social Democratic lawmaker Joachim Poss to Bloomberg.
In addition, he stated that Tsipras’ inability to persuade even his German allies that he is on the right track “risks entrenching a conflict with Greece’s European creditors as his government runs out of money.”
