Tsipras: 'Greece Is on the Final Stretch Toward a Bailout Deal'

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told media on Wednesday afternoon that Greece is finally close to an agreement with its international creditors in order to receive the emergency cash the country needs to avoid a potential default.
“We took many steps. We are on the ‘final stretch’ toward a positive deal,” Tsipras said, while he added: “I want to assure the Greek people that we are negotiating ensuring security and stability conditions for the Greek economy,” attacking at the same time those who for four months were predicting Greece’s bankruptcy.
Tsipras reassured that his government will be able to fulfill its monthly wage and pension obligations at the end of the week. The announcement is of great importance, taking into account that securing a release of €7.2 billion in bailout cash is critical for Athens in order to meet its domestic and international obligations.
