The Greek finance ministry has chosen economist Elena Panaritis as the country’s representative to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to a press release on Friday. She is replacing Thanos Katsambas, the ministry said.
Panaritis has worked at the World Bank, has participated in many international negotiations, has taught in American universities and has also been a member of the Greek Parliament from 2009 until 2012 with PASOK party.
Her selection was made after examining CVs and following an interview from an unofficial committee headed by Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis.
