Hollande-Juncker-Merkel Call for Greek Solution Prior to Meeting With Tsipras

Tsipras Calls Merkel, Hollande, Juncker
Upon their arrival for a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Brussels, prior to the scheduled Euro Summit, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel commented on the potential for a new deal with Greece.
The four-way meeting takes place after Greece presented justĀ oral and not written proposals in today’s Eurogroup.
Merkel warned that Europe only has a few days and not weeks at its disposal to reach a final deal with Greece and said she is awaiting Tsiprasā€™ presentation of the Greek proposals to see what could happen.
ā€œThere is still no basis to begin negotiations on a program within the ESM frameworkā€ she notedĀ and added that both solidarity and reforms are necessary forĀ progress.
Hollande also called for solidarity and responsibility, and argued that Europe should not be dealing with Greece every two-three months and should quicklyĀ find a solution.
ā€œWe have some oral proposals on a Eurogroup level that need to be confirmed and completed,ā€ he said and added ā€œFor now I would say they have not been fully expressed. We definitely need to have something with a long term potential but also something technical in the near futureā€.
Juncker insisted that he is always open to finding a solutionĀ and noted that itĀ needs to come from Tsipras.
