Greek Swim Team Wins 4 Metals in Glasgow Championship

tsapatakisThe Greek swim team won four metals in the Glasgow 2015 IPC Swimming World Championship, one silver and three bronze. Antonis Tsapatakis won the silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke SB4 with time 1:36.75, while Giannis Kostakis came third in the 50-meter front SB2 and Christos Tambaksis was also third in the 50-meter and 100-meter backstroke S1. In the end Greece ranked 28th among 69 countries in the championship.
In the preliminary races Tsapatakis’ time in the 100-meter breaststroke SB4 was 1:36.33 not only setting a national record, but also a race record. However, in the final round he was a bit slower and Brazilian Daniel Dias (1:36.54) took the first place and the gold medal. Spanish athlete Ricardo Ten completed the race in 1:39.90 minutes and placed third.
Furthermore, Greek athlete Kostakis, placed third at the 50-meter front SB, completing the race in 1:00.56 minutes, while Christos Tambaksis, was the first Greek athlete to receive a medal, in the 50 and 100-meter backstroke S1 completing the races in 1:24.90 and 2:54.45 minutes respectively.
