Wealthy Tourists Still Choose Greece for Their Summer Vacation

Best Villas and Suites in Mykonos and SantoriniGreeks may be trying their luck in other countries across the globe due to the financial crisis and political instability but Greece still remains one of the top summer destinations for wealthy tourists, noted Bloomberg.
The news agency noted that Greece accounted for 20% of the top 15 vacation spots for wealthy visitors, according to Switchfly, a global technology company that powers travel commerce. Switchfly ranked the top destinations according to the length of luxury tourists’ stay and Athens placed 4th after Seoul, Dubai and Milan.
Furthermore, other popular Greek summer destinations, such as Crete and Mykonos, also placed among the top destination for travelers flying first class and staying in luxury accommodation, added the company.
“Every year, economic, social and political events affect travel trends,” said Switchfly CEO Daniel Farrar. “This year, we’ve seen a rise in travel to Greece as the country’s economic crisis had made travel more affordable.”
Tourism is Greece’s main source of revenue and due to recent developments its stability and even growth is needed in order for the country to stay afloat. This will be the seventh annual economic decline in eight years for Greece, a country that sinks into a deeper recession every day.
