Thessaloniki Exhibition Presents True Biography of Prehistoric People

NeanderthalThe evolution of biological human history is finally recomposed and will be narrated during the “Ancient DNA: a window to the past and future” exhibition, hosted at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki through May 31, 2016.

The Museum worked together with the Democritus University of Thrace not just on the laboratory analysis of international and European ancient and contemporaneous organisms but also on osteological material from Greece, and they are now ready to present their study’s results in an exciting exhibition that will be divided into three parts.

In the first part, the visitor will be introduced to the basic DNA elements and research. The second part will explain the methodology of sampling, the laboratory procedures for extraction, amplification and sequencing of DNA as well as data processing. The final part will present some of the palaeogenetic results in anthropology and archaeology.
