Greek Govt Spokeswoman Criticises SYRIZA MP Lafazanis on Statements Against Govt

Olga GerovasiliGreek government spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili criticized former Energy Minister and SYRIZA MP Panagiotis Lafazanis who stated in an interview to Greek media that he will vote against the government.

“The Left Platform and Panagiotis Lafazanis announced today through their statements that they have decided to vote against the SYRIZA government,” Gerovasili said commenting on Lafazanis’ interview in Greek news website

“It is known that for three years, the same people have been voting against almost all the decisions of the central committee and have shown no trust to any of its decisions, exactly because they did not contain the prospect of adopting the drachma,” she added and continued, “The question is simple. The currency change he is suggesting, would it happen in agreement with our partners or not?”

She said that if the currency change is agreed, then Greeks will only end up with a Memorandum and the drachma, which will not guarantee, in any way, a better solution for the low and medium-level incomes. “If it is not, then how will the new currency be supported? With what reserves? With which loans and from which sources?”

The spokeswoman noted that during the parliamentary group meetings, Lafazanis and other Left Platform members had supported an orderly exit from the euro, which was the plan of German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble.

Gerovasili also said that these questions need specific answers to help people understand why Lafazanis and the Left Platform have taken the decision to overthrow Greece’s first leftist government.

  1. Olga darling, who changed their policy agenda Tsipras or Lafazanis? Panagiotis and Zoe have remained consistent on SYRIZA policy, while Tsipras first wavered, was braced by 61% popular referendum and quickly capitulated to the creditors. Now he is openly defying everyone of his “beliefs” by effecting as much irrevocable damage as he possibly can to our country. The government mouthpiece should hedge her career or risk being as punished as her employer.
