Eurostat: Unemployment in Greece Dropped to 25% in May

unemploymentEurostat, the European statistical authority, announced that unemployment in Greece dropped to 25% in May 2015, while in April 2015 it stood at 25.6%. However, it has not yet announced any data regarding June, July or August 2015.
According to the statistical data, the number of unemployed Greeks reached 1.2 million in May. Furthermore, it was noted that unemployment affects women more than men with the rate standing at 28.2% and 22.4% respectively.
Greece continues to have the highest unemployment rate within the European Union, closely followed by Spain with 22.2%. Meanwhile, Germany, the Czech Republic and Malta recorded the lowest unemployment rates within the Union. In fact, the percentage in Germany did not exceed 4.7%, while in both other countries it stood at 5.7%.
Greece also recorded the highest rates in youth unemployment, with 52.5% of Greeks under the age of 25 being unemployed in May (up from 51.8% in April). Spain came second with 48.6%, followed by Croatia (43.1%) and Italy (40.5%). On the other hand, Germany (7%), Malta (8.7%) and Estonia (9.5%) showed the lowest rates.
