Greek Main Opposition Leader: 'No Room for Protest During the Election'

meimarakisGreek main opposition New Democracy leader Evangelos Meimarakis underlined on Tuesday that there is no room for protest during the upcoming election.
In an interview to Greek television, he called on Greeks to get informed and vote in the elections so that the country exits the crisis.
Meimarakis accused SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras of lying and fleeing before imposing 90-billion-euro measures.
“Tsipras closed the parliament and goes to elections before the Greeks learn about the measures,” he stressed. “We have elections six times in a year. This causes instability and drives investments away. Citizens are giving us a mandate to solve the problem,” he added.
He also noted that the time of one-party governments is long gone. “It is the era of consensus and discussions. An institutional discussion with local officials is needed; all major issues require consensus and conversation,” he said.
