Boat Carrying Migrants Capsizes off Turkish Coast – 4 Children Among the 22 Dead

migrants-boatTurkish authorities collected around 200 migrants and refugees traveling aboard a wooden 20-meter boat that capsized.
At least 22 people, including 4 children and 11 women lost their lives off the south-western coast of Turkey in the wreck. The boat was carrying them to the Greek islands from where they wished to travel to northern European countries, noted the Turkish news agency Dogan.
The Turkish coastguard managed to rescue 205 people who were traveling aboard the ship, which was sailing from the area of Datca.
Meanwhile, two days ago another boat, carrying 100 refugees, capsized near the Greek island of Farmakonisi, resulting in the death of 34 refugees, including 11 children.
The International Organization for Migration has said over 430,000 migrants and refugees have crossed the Mediterranean to Europe so far in 2015, with 2,748 dying or going missing en route.
