Greek Elections: Polls Continue to Show Neck to Neck Race with Slight ND Lead

New opinion polls on Sunday’s critical election show that SYRIZA and New Democracy run neck to neck, with most of them giving the conservative party a slight edge.
Metrisi shows New Democracy first
In a survey conducted by Metrisi for Eleftheros Typos newspaper, New Democracy leads the tight race in voting intentions with 28.5 percent, with SYRIZA following at 27.1 percent. Third party is Golden Dawn at 5.6 percent, followed by the Greek Communist Party (KKE) with 5.4 percent.
Close behind is the PASOK/DIMAR alliance with 5.1 percent of potential voters, To Potami follows at 4.7 percent. Popular Unilty and the Centrists Union barely make it to parliament with 3.2 and 3.1 percent respectively. Independent Greeks (ANEL) stay out of the House getting only 2.7 percent of the potential vote.
Alco poll shows SYRIZA ahead
Another poll by Alco research company on behalf of newsit.gr gives SYRIZA a marginal lead of 0.3 percent against New Democracy. According to Alco, the leftist party would get 25.3 percent of the vote if the election were held yesterday, while the conservatives would get 25 percent.
The ultra-rightist Golden Dawn is third at 6.2 percent with KKE following at 5.7 percent. PASOK-DIMAR would get 4.7 percent, To Potami 4.2 percent, the Centrists Union 3.7 percent and Popular Unity 3 percent. Finally the Alco poll shows ANEL with only 2.5 percent and the percentage of undecided voters at 10.
Metron Analysis gives New Democracy slight edge
Metron Analysis poll company has done a survey for Parapolitika Sunday newspaper in which New Democracy is ahead by a slight 0.3 percent.
More specifically, in voting intention, News Democracy gathers 31.9 of the vote and SYRIZA 31.6 percent. Golden Dawn gets 6.7 percent, KKE 6.2 percent, To Potami 5.9 percent, PASOK-DIMAR 5.2%, Centrists Union 3.6 percent, the Popular Unity 3.4 percent, ANEL 2.7 percent.
In terms of popularity though, 48 percent prefer Alexis Tsipras over Vangelis Meimarakis, who gets 47 percent.
Pulse research company has the two parties tie
In a Pulse survey for website topontiki.gr, both parties tie at 28 percent of potential voters. There is also a tie in third place where Golden Dawn and PASOK-DIMAR tie at 6.5 percent each.
The ties continue in fifth place with KKE and To Potami getting 5 percent of the vote. Popular Unity follows at 3.5 percent, Centrists Union is at 3 percent, while ANEL stays out of parliament with 2.5 percent.
Interview shows New Democracy lead, but Tsipras more winner of debate
Interview polling company conducted a survey on behalf of Vergina television and shows New Democracy leading, but participants believe that Tsipras won in the debate between the two party chiefs.
Here the conservative party received 30 percent of the potential vote and the leftists 28 percent. This poll also has the PASOΚ-DIMAR alliance and KKE share third place at 6 percent each and Golden Dawn coming fifth at 5 percent.
Interview has To Potami at 4.5 percent the Centrists Union at 4 percent. According to this poll, Popular Unity and ANEL don’t make it to parliament as they get only 2.5 percent each.
Asked what government would guarantee more political stability after the elections, 26 percent answered they would prefer a coalition government with SYRIZA as the main party, while 24 percent believe that New Democracy allying with another party would bring more political stability in Greece.
