ANEL Leader Hints At Greek Coalition Government with SYRIZA

Panos KammenosIndependent Greeks (ANEL) leader Panos Kammenos addressed the results of the September 20 Greek elections on Sunday evening after his party secured its presence in the next Greek parliament.
“Despite a merciless war our citizens chose us as the country’s leaders. We will uphold their mandate along with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, we will proceed with a government that will take the country out of the  bailout programs” he said thus hinting at a second SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government, as the two parties had governed Greece together from January 25 until August 20, 2015
“We made national reconciliation a reality. Greeks will unite. We have one goal and one love and that is Greece,” he added.
Kammenos also spoke about “paid assassins” who wanted to keep his party away from the Greek parliament.
ANEL received 3.7% of the vote and was thus able to marginally guarantee seats in the next Greek parliament as the minimum required for a party’s presence in the parliament is 3% of the vote.
According to the latest vote count, SYRIZA and ANEL could form a government without the assistance of any other parties as they have 155 parliament members combined, with 151 being the minimum number of MPs a government can have. 145 are SYRIZA MPs and the remaining 10 are ANEL MPs.
