An ancient tomb that dates back to Minoan period was discovered by the Municipality of Melivizi close to the Moni Settlement in Northern Crete.
“An important, according to the first assessment, carved tomb of the later Minoan period (around 1300 B.C.) was discovered just outside the boundaries of the Moni settlement,” the municipality of Malevizi’s announcement notes.
This is a medium sized mass grave. The discovery also yielded other artifacts, including numerous vases and other smaller objects.
This small region in Crete was the sight of another significant tomb discovery back in July 2014 during the construction of a biological cleaning unit in the Moni settlement, the municipality notes.
