Greek Prime Minister Meets with Cypriot and Egyptian President in New York

Tsipras_AnstasiadisGreek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades met during the United Nations General assembly annual General Debate in New York, on Tuesday.
“During the meeting, the central importance of the coordination and cooperation of Greece and the Cypriot Republic in matters of foreign policy, especially given the destabilization of the wider region, and the intensification of the communal talks for a just and viable solution to the Cyprus Problem,” an announcement by the Greek Prime Minister’s Office notes.
TSIPRAS_SISIThe two neighbouring leaders also discussed the potential for three-way meetings with Egypt and Israel.
Following his discussion with Anastasiades, Tsipras also met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Greek premier did not just meet with government representatives but also members of the press. The Edit Board of the New York Times as well as the Edit Board of the Wall Street Journal sat down with Tsipras, on separate occasions on Tuesday.
Tispras still has a busy day ahead of him with a meeting scheduled with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davudoglu, a dinner with Irish party Sinn Fein President; Gerry Adams, a meeting with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon followed by meetings with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
He also is set to visit Greek-American community members in New York, go to an event hosted by the European Union, as well as attend a dinner hosted by the Greek ambassador in New York.
