New Refugee Crisis Documentary Centres on Volunteers on Greek Islands

migrants-refugeesA new short documentary entitled “The Journey” sheds light on some of the protagonists of the ongoing refugee crisis.
More than 570,000 refugees and migrants have arrived at the Greek islands since the beginning of 2015 according to a new United Nations Refugee Agency report. These people arrive on Greek islands that have been overwhelmed by this massive influx.
Doctors of the World (MSF)- Greece, is a non governmental organization that provides medical relief to people in crisis stricken areas. Volunteers from MSF have been stationed at the East Aegean Greek islands of Lesvos and Chios as well as the town of Idomeni, located in Greece’s northern border with FYROM, where they are assisting migrants and refugees.
The documentary looks into the work of MSF in these different areas in Greece. Doctors and volunteers speak about the MSF’s work, the refugee situation upon their arrival as well as the islands’ needs in the face this crisis. Volunteers also detail various responsibilities and situations they are dealing with while helping out on the island.
