Golden Dawn MP Reportedly Attacked During Pontic Protest in Thessaloniki

The second Pontic protest within the past five days saw another altercation involving Greek politicians, as protesters demanded that Golden Dawn representatives leave, the protest turned violent.
Golden Dawn MP Christos Chatzisavvas and Golden Dawn’s city council member Artemios Matthaipopoulos were reportedly attacked by a group of people during a Pontic anti-government protest in the city of Thessaloniki, Northern Greece.
Monday’s incident comes in the aftermath of last week’s attack on New Democracy MP Giorgos Koumoutakos by individuals who are thought to have ties to Golden Dawn, during a Pontic anti-government protest in Athens.
The president of the Panpontic Federation of Greece (POE) Christos Topalidis had condemned the attack on Komoutsakos and noted that the POE had no relation to the perpetrators.
Athens and Thessaloniki’s Pontic anti-government protests are in response to Greek Education Minister Nikos Filis’s denial of the Pontic Genocide and revelations that the genocide was no longer being taught to 12th graders in Greek schools.
Footage from Monday’s incident has surfaced:
