2000 Greeks Have Asked Google to 'Forget' Them

Google Greek SeminarsUp to 2,044 Greeks have claimed “their right to be forgotten” by Google. They have submitted their request asking for their name to be deleted from Google’s search engines.
The requests concern about 8,788 url addresses. Google has already satisfied one-third of these requests (32.2%) and the rest are still pending.
Most applicants have requested “amnesia” for info that concerns their Facebook accounts, links which connect them with profiles at profileengine.com, Google Groups, YouTube, Twitter, Google+ etc.
The “right to be forgotten” was decided by the European Court on the 29th of May 2014 and allowed users to ask search engines like Google to remove search results that concern personal information which they find inaccurate, inappropriate, exaggerated etc.
Google evaluates every application and can deny the removal since it has the right to evaluate if some information has public interest, for example if the request to be forgotten is coming from someone who has been condemned for fraud or has committed other crimes.
