Thirteen migrants drowned, with seven children among them, in yet another maritime tragedy off Greek islet of Farmakonisi.
Greek coastguard officials said that the incident took place earlier on Wednesday as a rescue mission saved another 15 people, 13 men and two women. According to the rescued migrants, one person is still missing.
The dead were identified as seven children, four men and two women. The country of origin of the migrants is not known yet.
A day earlier, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported that 11 migrants attempting to reach the Greek island of Samos drowned after their boat capsized, including three children. Seven others were rescued.
