The National Weather Service warned that temperatures will drop significantly in the next 24 hours, in Greece, with sleet and wind expected for most of the country and snow forecast for the mountainous and northern regions.
Snowfall is even expected in the northern parts of the capital, with temperatures dropping up to 5 degrees. In Thessaloniki temperatures will fall to -5 degrees. Winds will reach 8 on the Beaufort scale.
Meanwhile, the municipal services in Athens announced that a heated room at the community center (Lenorman and Alexandrias) opened at 10 am while the municipal stadium at Rouf (Piraeos and Echelidon) will also be available on Saturday.
