Former Greek Ministry Defense Officials Charged with Breach of Faith

BA Greek prosecutor has charged eight Greek Ministry of Defense officials for breach of faith committed in 2003.
The charges concern a contract to install upgrades in Greek Navy “S” class frigates, which prosecutors found was worth less than it should have. The specific contract cost 381,578,580 euros, real.gr reports.
The prosecutors have also deemed it necessary that the Greek parliament examine whether Yiannos Papantoniou, the Defense Minister from 2001 to 2004, holds punishable responsibility for the actions of these officials.
Papantoniou was recently found guilty for hiding income from his tax reports. He was sentenced to four years in prison, convertible to a daily 10 euro payment.
