Greek Actress Anna Synodinou Passes Away at 88

annaRenowned Greek actress Anna Synodinou passed away on Thursday at the age of 88 at a private hospital after battling health problems over the last years.
Synodinou was born November 21, 1927 in Loutraki. She is known for her roles in the films Thanassakis o Politevomenos (1954), Dollaria ki Oneira (1956), O Anthropos tou Trenou (1958), The 300 Spartans (1962), Electra II (1962). She also had a leading role in the television series Matomena Homata (2008).
Synodinou was mainly a stage actress and was also one of the founding members of the Theater of the National Garden and founder of the Theater of Lycabettus. She had taken part in many international theatrical festivals in France, Yugoslavia, Italy, Russia, etc. From 2004 on she had been teaching Greek ancient drama at the Athens Conservatory.
Parallel to her acting, Synodinou was an active politician. From 1974 until 1990, she served continuously in Greek parliament as she was elected with New Democracy in the 1974, 1977, 1981, 1985 and 1989 elections.
