European Commission Official Calls Greek Pension Reform Proposal 'Ambitious'

european-commissionA European Commission official who looked at the Greek proposal on pension reforms called it “ambitious,” adding that further additions and changes might be needed.
The Commission official briefed the press in Brussels on the matterĀ of the upcoming Greek bailout program evaluation progress that will start next week.
The representatives of Greece’s creditors will arrive in Athens to review the progress of social security fund reforms, the reconstruction of public administration, labor law reforms, the opening of the energy market and other “closed” markets, the establishment of a state privatization fund and the measures needed for achieving fiscal targets for 2016.
The Commission official called the Greek proposal “ambitious,” however, he said, he didn’t read all 160 pages of it. He noted that some additions might be needed or some new figures provided. He stressed that it is too early for the Commission to approve the proposal during Thursday’s or February’s Eurogroup meetings.
