EU Officials Mock Greek Media's Exaggerations Over Greece's Future in Schengen Area

eeGreece has three months to get its act together on the question of border controls or face expulsion from the Schengen area, Greek media outlets of all types screamed over a draft report released earlier in the week by the European Commission which pointed to deficiencies in the way Greek authorities were handling the inflow of immigrants.
Today, EU officials felt the apparent need to clarify the situation over the so-called deficiencies in Greek border checks in order to put to rest the outrageous exaggerations made by Greek media outlets over the future of Greece in the Schengen zone.
A European Commission source explained that the report in question had identified certain problems in the handling of refugees by Greek authorities last November, but that the situation had improved markedly since then, although more improvements were still needed.
The same source also mocked Greek media’s expulsion exaggerations by saying that people seem to forget that Greece has “no land borders with the rest of the Schengen area.”
