Multi-Purpose Bus for the Homeless Starts Athens Routes

bus.708A bus that will be offering services to the homeless of Athens will soon start routes to aid citizens in need.
The bus is equipped with toilets, showers and a first aid clinic with medical staff and will be making daily routes to offer help to the capital’s homeless. The route will be stopping at every place where homeless usually stay. Homeless citizens can board the bus to take showers, use the toilet or receive first aid.
“This welfare action will offer substantial help to the homeless, during the difficult period we are going through in the hope that in the near future we will continue these actions, gradually expanding to other groups in need,” says OASA president Anastasios Tastanis.
The double-decker bus is rebuilt specifically for this purpose. It passes through the center of Athens, City Hall, Zappeion Academy, Achilleos avenue, Filopappou, Acharnon avenue, the Port of Piraeus, Eleonas, Egaleo, Rouf.
The exact stops, time schedules, time spent in each stop and other details will be finalized within the next few days.
The bus will join the OASA telematics system, which is scheduled to be operational within the next three months, in order to monitor its daily functions.
