Two Suspects of Paris Terrorist Attacks Linked to Greece

francestadium14112015Two men being held in Austria on suspicion of links to the Paris terrorist attacks in November passed through the Greek island of Leros, according to a Kathimerini newspaper report.
The two suspects are French citizens of Algerian and Pakistani origin respectively, and reached Leros on October 3 along with two other men who were among the suicide bombers at Stade de France on November 13, says Kathimerini.
The men were questioned by Frontex, the European border control agency. They claimed to be refugees holding Syrian passports. However, it was found that the documents were official blank passports stolen by Islamic State jihadists.
During their interrogation by Frontex, it turned out that the men were not from Syria. They were charged with forgery by a prosecutor on Kos and were handed documents asking them to leave Greece within 30 days.
Apparently, the two men crossed to northern Europe illegally. They were arrested on December 10 at a refugee center in the Austrian city of Salzburg, the report says.
Based on investigation, the suspects are believed to have helped the two bombers they were traveling with, who apparently were not stopped by authorities in Leros, where their passports were also checked and registered.
The serial number on one of the passports found at the site of the Stade de France bombing was similar to the numbers in the travel documents used by the two men arrested in Salzburg.
It is likely that the passports belong to the same batch of blank passports stolen by the jihadists.
