One Publisher and Two Journalists Arrested for Blackmail

The police arrested one publisher and two journalists for blackmailing public organizations, companies and banks.
The persons arrested are Panayiotis Mavrikos, publisher of the newspaper “Acropolis” and reporters Panagiotis Mousas and Christos Fragou.
Mavrikos reportedly blackmailed public organization executives and bankers, threatening to kill family members. His newspaper, has often published unsubstantiated slanderous comments on politicians, public institution and company executives.
Jurnalist Christos Fragou is also the publisher of the free press publication Free Money and owner of website Sofokleous In. Fragou was the dealmaker of the gang.
Recently Fragou had published an unsubstantiated report about Google conspiring to overthrow the SYRIZA government. The report was reproduced by leftist sites affiliated to the Greek government.
During the investigation, it was found that Fragou has ties with SYRIZA members, according to Proto Thema news site.
The arrests took place after an extensive police operation working to dismantle a criminal organization that blackmailed public organizations and companies, institutes and banks.
