West Macedonia and northern Greece farmers decided to continue blocking major national highways and Albania and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia border checkpoints.
On Wednesday, the Krystallopigi crossing point to Albania will be closed for 24 hours, until 11 am Thursday. The Niki crossing point to FYROM will be closed 10 am-4 pm and 6 pm until midnight on Wednesday. Blockade coordinator Dimitris Moschos told the Athens Macedonia News Agency that blocks will open when there are long lines in order to facilitate drivers.
Other blockades in western Greece include Egnatia Highway with direction to Ioannina, Blocks at Neapolis, Argos Orestiko, Egnatia Highway with direction to Kastoria and the toll booths towards Kozani.
Meanwhile, the block at Amyntaio in northern Greece has been ongoing since Monday evening and will stay indefinitely, after the farmers’ unsuccessful meeting with the prime minister. Block coordinator Diamanto Kritikou told AMNA, “We don’t want to inconvenience people and motorists, but it must become finally clear that we are fighting for our survival.”
